With an annual budget of $366 million, approximately 2300 full & part time employees, the City of Springfield, Mo. is overseen by Greg Burris, City Manager, a position he's held since Sept. 15th 2008. He's retiring from the position in June of 2018, and I wanted to get his take on how sees his role, how he views The City on balance and what he means when he talks about "the importance of being better storytellers." We met in his office on the 4th floor of The Busch Building and sat down to talk about his challenges, his next chapter after running Springfield, the disconnect that social media presents and his all-time favorite concerts he's attended (hint: we have the same favorite). Turns out he's played music semi-professionally, so not only do we share that love, but in serving the same boss (the Citizens), we share many common perspectives. A City Firefighter interviews the City Manager and it yields another genuine conversation
